That will roll right off the tongue right? IvyEatsEverythingButNotInAmericaGenerally. Catchy. No? Well too fucking bad. That's the new reality. Deal.

For years I've purchased yummy veggies and products from local farmer's markets and knew that it was good to buy fresh food from local farmers -- but I didn't understand the gravity of the choices we make when we eat.

I watched the movie Food, Inc. on Friday evening and after about 10 minutes, I vowed to stop eating any and all fast food - that includes sodas as well as any and all industrially raised meats. Done. I'm only going to purchase eggs from small farmers at markets... no big grocery chain eggs anymore. Ugh!

I love vegetables, so it's not a hardship, but I'm so programmed to eat, well, everything. Now I have to think more about my selections. Today at Ralph's salad bar, I had to put the spoon back into the oriental salad because I could see it had some shredded chicken in it.

Awareness of what we're doing to our planet and our bodies -- not to mention other living creatures which is a whole other Oprah -- is critical. The FDA and lobbyists and major food corporations and fast food will have to sort this disgusting mess out. Until then, I'm not eating meat unless I'm on a farm that is raising and killing animals humanely. Sorry Tyson's and Hormel and Carl's Junior. I'm voting with my dollar and I get to vote 3 times a day.

Not that I'm going vegan, I'm still all about the cheese and the more artisinal, the better. Small farms in Vermont making luscious goat's milk cheese, etc. I'll also be eating meat in Europe as they don't even come close to the factory farming that we've adopted.

I'm not going to become Soy Girl, I don't mind it in small amounts, but I'm not crazy about soy in general.

Whew. Now I must get on with eating everything except beef, pork, lamb, poultry, and green peppers if you'll excuse me.
